金魚の発見:::約2000年前、中国南部地方で野生のフナの中ら赤色のものが発見され、これが原種となり今日金魚と呼ばれるものに。日本には1502年、室町時代中頃、中国から渡来したというのが定説。当時は貴族、富豪の珍奇な愛玩物として飼われ、庶民の間で流行したのは、明治時代になってから。

About 2,000 years ago, a red-colored crucian carp was discovered among wild crucian carp in southern China.

It is believed that the goldfish was introduced to Japan from China in 1502 during the Muromachi period (1336-1573). At that time, goldfish were exclusively kept by aristocrats and wealthy people as curious pets, and it is said that it was during the Meiji period (1868-1912) that they became popular among the general public.

The origin of goldfish cultivation in Yamato Koriyama City is said to date back to 1724, when Marquis Kiri Yanagisawa entered Yamato Koriyama from Kai (Yamanashi Prefecture).
